I’ll implement recommendations of #EndBadGovernance protest inquiry — Gov Yusuf

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has pledged to fully implement the recommendations of the Committee of Inquiry on the #EndBadGovernance protest held on August 1, 2024.
Receiving the committee’s report from its chairman, Justice Lawan Wada (retd.), during the 25th Kano State Executive Council meeting at the Government House, Governor Yusuf also announced plans to issue a White Paper identifying those responsible for sponsoring and perpetrating the violent protest.
A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, confirmed the development.
According to the report, the protest resulted in the death of 10 people, while seven others sustained critical injuries. Additionally, public and private properties worth over ₦11 billion were destroyed.
Governor Yusuf stressed that his administration allowed the committee to operate independently throughout its six-month investigation without interference.
“I have confidence in the integrity and professionalism of the committee members. They were selected based on merit, and I am optimistic that they have done their job without bias,” the governor stated.
He assured that the government would act on the report’s findings to hold those responsible accountable and prevent future occurrences of violence and destruction
The governor also praised the committee’s efforts and encouraged them to remain available for future assignments if needed.
Presenting the report, Justice Wada revealed that the committee conducted on-site visits to all affected areas and engaged with key stakeholders to compile a comprehensive account of the protest’s impact.
