Osun APC chairman loses wife
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has condoled with its state chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, over the sudden death of his wife, Fatimah Lawal.
The party announced the death in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, and obtained in Osogbo on Saturday, noting that she died in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Friday.
It was gathered that the deceased died at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile-Ife, after a brief illness.
“Her demise is a painful and irreparable loss, not only to the immediate Lawal family but also to the entire APC family in Osun State and beyond,” the statement read in part
Describing the deceased as a virtuous woman, devoted Muslimah, pillar of support to her husband, and compassionate mother, the party said she lived a life that reflected humility, kindness and unwavering commitment to her family and humanity.
The statement further read, “We extend our heartfelt condolences to our state chairman, his nuclear and extended families, and all those affected by this monumental loss.
“A family source disclosed that, in accordance with Islamic rites, her remains would be buried on Saturday, May 2, 2026, by 12 noon at Olasode, Ile-Ife.
May Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings, grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus, and give the family she left behind the fortitude to bear this painful and irreparable loss.”
Meanwhile, the Governorship Election Campaign Council of Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress candidate in the August 15, 2026 Osun governorship election, has also commiserated with Lawal over the death of his wife.
According to a statement released by the Director-General of the campaign council, Wole Oke, and signed by the co-chairman of its Media and Publicity Committee, Kola Olabisi, the death was shocking, sudden and tragic.
Oke said the demise of Mrs Lawal was one death too many, adding that the development was initially difficult to believe until the news spread across traditional and social media.
The director-general said the campaign council shared in the grief of the widower, noting that the sudden death would be traumatic.
“I appeal to Sooko Lawal to take the death of his wife philosophically, as death is an inevitable end for all mortals, without clear knowledge of when, where or how each individual’s journey will end,” Oke said.
