OnePipe unveils new feature to simplify digital payments

Nigerian fintech company OnePipe has launched an automated payment scheduling feature on its PaywithAccount platform in a bid to reduce the growing burden of missed utility and service payments among consumers.

The new feature comes in response to findings from a recent consumer survey by financial inclusion advocate EFInA, which revealed that nearly half of Nigerian adults missed at least one critical utility or service payment in the past year. These missed payments often lead to service disruptions, penalties, and unnecessary financial stress.

According to fintech, PaywithAccount’s new scheduling solution enables users to automate recurring payments directly from their existing bank accounts through paywithaccount.com, helping them avoid the inconvenience of manual payment reminders and late fees.

Product Manager, PaywithAccount, Akin Olunloye, said the launch was in response to rising demand for smarter and simpler payment tools among Nigerians.

Managing monthly payments has become a significant source of stress for many Nigerians.

This scheduling feature within PaywithAccount is a direct response to the need for automation. Our goal is to help consumers streamline their payments reliably and consistently,” he said in a statement

The feature currently supports major electricity distribution companies, including Eko, Ikeja, Abuja, and Ibadan, as well as all major mobile network operators, such as MTN, Airtel, Glo, and 9Mobile. OnePipe said additional categories like cooperative society dues and insurance premiums will be added in the coming months.

Early adopters have reported high satisfaction with the convenience the feature provides. Chinyere, a lawyer based in Lagos, said, “Missing electricity payments has always been a hassle in my household. Automating with PaywithAccount has eliminated that completely. I get notifications and receipts immediately through WhatsApp. It’s made a big difference.”

A digital marketer and another early user, Sodiq, shared a similar sentiment: “I handle various payments every month for family and business purposes. Automating these transactions with PaywithAccount means I never worry about disruptions, even if I’m occupied or travelling. It’s genuinely simplified how I handle my finances.”

The launch follows a report indicating that almost half of all urban Nigerians have experienced disruptions in essential services due to forgotten or delayed payments, underscoring the need for automated payment solutions.

With PaywithAccount’s scheduling feature, OnePipe aims to make everyday financial management more efficient, reliable, and stress-free for millions of Nigerians navigating multiple payment obligations.
