One killed as Bauchi police arrest three for thuggery
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspected thugs linked to a violent attack that left one person dead and several others injured.
The Command’s spokesperson, Ahmed Wakil, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, noting that two dangerous weapons used during the attacks were recovered.
According to Wakil, the Command received a distress call on November 8, 2025, from the Divisional Police Officer of C Division, CSP Abubakar N. Pindiga, reporting that a group of suspected thugs — identified as Nazifi, also known as Maikare; Aliyu Abubakar, known as Bigi, 19; Sadiyo Aliyu, 21; Al-Amin Bolatu; Baba Budi; Boda; Ishe; Suleja; and Ada’u, also known as Adahama — all residents of Anguwan Makafi, had invaded the Unguwan Dawaki area of Bauchi.
“The suspects allegedly launched a deadly attack armed with machetes and inflicted various degrees of injuries on one Abba, also known as Hitler, a neighbour of their initial target,” the statement said.
Wakil revealed that police operatives swiftly mobilised to the scene, where they discovered that some of the suspects had been subjected to mob action by members of the community.
He stated that one of them, identified as Bello Al-Amin Waziri, also known as Al-Amin Koyi, was found unconscious and rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he was certified dead by a medical doctor.
The PPRO added that one of the key suspects and alleged originator of the conflict, Sadiq Aliyu Abdullahi, 19, popularly known as Nahau, had been arrested and two machetes were recovered from him as exhibits.
Two other accomplices — Umar Salisu, known as Sarka, and Aliyu Abubakar, also called Abba Bigi — were also apprehended, all from Anguwan Makafi.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had a misunderstanding with youths from the Unguwan Dawaki and Unguwan Makafi.
“They returned to carry out a retaliatory attack, injuring Abba (Hitler). A day later, they returned, attacking their initial target, Al-Amin Koyi, who was stabbed to death. His friend, Sadiq Abdullahi (Nahau), who attempted to rescue him, had his three fingers cut off,” Wakil narrated.
The police spokesperson confirmed that the three suspects currently in custody are: Sadiq Aliyu Abdullahi (Nahau), 21; Aliyu Abubakar (Bigi), 23; and Umar Salisu (Sarka), 23.
He added that efforts are ongoing to track down other accomplices who fled the scene.
Wakil disclosed that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, strongly condemned the rising cases of youth restiveness and jungle justice in the state.
“The CP warned that mob action, thuggery, and armed violence are serious offences punishable under Nigerian law,” he stressed.
He has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution,” Wakil pointed out while assuring residents that no culprit would escape justice.
The Command urged community members to promptly report criminal activities and refrain from taking the law into their hands.
