Ogun varsity gets programmes approval
The National Universities Commission has approved four postgraduate programmes for McPherson University, Ogun State, with effect from the 2026/2027 academic session.
NUC, in a letter dated June 19 and signed by its Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei, for the Executive Secretary of the Commission, said the programmes were to be offered on a full-time basis at the university’s main campus.
According to the Commission, the approval followed a resource verification visit by a panel of experts to the university to assess the human and material resources available for the proposed postgraduate programmes.
The approved programmes are Postgraduate Diploma, Master of Science, Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy in Mass Communication; Microbiology; Business Management; and History and Diplomatic Studies.
The NUC directed the university to notify the commission for further processing before commencing the part-time mode of any of the approved programmes.
The commission also cautioned the university against altering the approved titles and nomenclature of the programmes, noting that any proposed change would require its approval.
It urged McPherson University to provide adequate human and material resources for the development and growth of the newly approved programmes.
