Ogun gov tasks civil servants on improved service delivery

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has urged civil servants, including Permanent Secretaries, Principals-General, General Managers, and other top administrators, to bring about improved service delivery in their various Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

The governor gave the charge at the closing ceremony of a five-day training programme held at the Nigeria Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona School of Governance Studies.

Represented by the State Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya, Abiodun said the NIPSS course was part of efforts to strengthen leadership and governance across the civil service.

He said, “This course is one of many steps we are taking to build a more capable, accountable and innovative public service. It has been designed to provide you with not only the theoretical frameworks but also practical insights that can be applied in your respective roles.”

The governor enjoined the participants to embrace the knowledge and skills acquired during the training and apply them in their respective agencies.

“We must continue to create a public service that is not only functional but visionary—one that meets the dynamic needs of our time and anticipates challenges,” he added.

Abiodun described effective leadership as the bedrock of efficient public administration, stressing that strategic leadership involves having a vision for the future of the public service and the courage to drive progressive change.

He expressed optimism that the course participants would contribute meaningfully to the state’s governance system, while also stressing the importance of integrity and accountability in public service.

Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, congratulated the participants and encouraged them to lead with vision and passion, and to manage their domains with creativity.

The Vice-Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, appreciated the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, for initiating the institute, the Federal Government for taking it over, and the state government for supporting the vision.

The Director of the institute, Prof. Sola Adeyanju, congratulated the participants on completing the programme, during the presentation of certificates.
