NEMA distributes relief materials to Oyo rainstorm victims

The National Emergency Management Agency has distributed relief materials to victims of a recent rainstorm in Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola, and Iwajowa Federal Constituency of Oyo State.

The agency disclosed this in a post on its X account on Tuesday, noting that the distribution was carried out by its Ibadan Operations Office.

According to the agency, the exercise took place at the constituency office of Najimdeen Oyedeji in Iseyin Local Government Area, with the attendance of dignitaries and government officials, including representatives of the lawmaker representing the constituency in the House of Representatives.

Speaking through the statement, the Chief Search and Rescue Officer, Ayo Abolarin, who represented the Head of Operations, conveyed the agency’s sympathy to the affected communities and emphasised the need for proactive measures.

It read, “He also emphasised the importance of adopting proactive disaster risk reduction measures to reduce the impact of future occurrences.”

The agency stated that the exercise was witnessed by representatives from the National Emergency Management Agency, Department of State Services, the Federal House of Representatives, the Oyo State Government, local government authorities, and community leaders.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Akeem Alale appreciated the intervention.

Alale expressed appreciation to NEMA for the timely intervention and humanitarian support. Beneficiaries thereafter received their allocated relief items in an orderly manner and commended the Agency for its assistance,” the statement said.

The agency added that beneficiaries received their relief materials in an orderly manner and commended the assistance.

It noted, “The exercise was successfully conducted, bringing relief and support to affected persons across the constituency.”
