My post about Diddy was irresponsible – Skit maker Shank
Nigerian content creator and streamer, Adesokan Adedeji Emmanuel, also known as Shank Comics, has addressed the backlash he faced after sharing the qualities he admires about Sean John Combs, popularly known as Sean Diddy on social media.
The content creator posted on his X handle on Monday to clarify his earlier statement, calling it irresponsible.
Shank also noted that he believes Diddy’s victims deserve justice and described the crimes he was convicted of as unacceptable in both society and the entertainment industry.
“To clarify any misunderstanding: My post about Diddy was a misguided attempt at referencing a villain in a “movie” and it was irresponsible. To be absolutely clear, I do not admire, support, or defend him in any way. The allegations against him are horrific, and he deserves every consequence that comes from them. What he’s been accused of (and convicted of) is unacceptable and has no place in our industry or anywhere else. Victims deserve justice. I’m committed to doing better and using my platform responsibly,” he wrote.
reports that the American rapper and singer, Sean Diddy, was in October sentenced to 50 months in prison following a conviction on two prostitution-related offenses.
Federal prosecutors had pushed for at least 11 years in prison, while his defence team requested no more than 14 months.
Reading his judgment, Judge Arun Subramanian acknowledged Combs’s business success and impact on the Black community, noting, “I have considered the fact that you are a self-made artist and businessman who has inspired and lifted up communities. Your work history, impact on the Black community, and entrepreneurship are celebrated and iconic.”
He, however, noted that “A history of good works cannot wash away the record in this case,” Subramanian said. “You used that abuse to get your way, especially when it came to ‘freak-offs’ and hotel nights. This was subjugation, and it drove both Ms. Ventura and Jane into thoughts of ending their lives. That is the reality of what happened.”
