Mourinho denies making comments about Ronaldo, Portugal
Real Madrid coach José Mourinho has denied making comments circulating in the media about Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), dismissing the reports as “fake news.”
Mourinho was reportedly linked to remarks concerning the growing tensions surrounding Ronaldo and the Portugal national team.
However, in a post by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on X on Thursday, Mourinho has firmly rejected the claims, saying: “Too much fake news on my comments about Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese Federation. I did not make any comment,”
The clarification comes as Ronaldo’s relationship with the Portugal national team faces renewed scrutiny following his unexpected departure from the team’s training camp in Copenhagen ahead of the UEFA Nations League clash with Denmark.
Ronaldo’s departure came after a period of uncertainty over his role under Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus.
The 41-year-old forward remained on the bench during Portugal’s 2–1 victory over Norway and subsequently missed a training session.
Ronaldo has indicated that he will explain his reasons for leaving the camp at a later date.
