The Towulade of Owu Akinale, Ogun State, Oba Oluseyi Adediran, has said the legacy of the late Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu, would continue to be remembered through acts of compassion and community service, as widows in the community were supported with financial assistance, food items and free hair-attachment plaiting services ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir festival.

Speaking  on behalf of the queen at the event on Tuesday, Oba Adediran explained that the initiative was organised by his wife, the Olori Towulade of Akinale, Olori Olufolake Adediran, to honour the memory of the late royal father by supporting vulnerable women in society.

“I honoured the late Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Gboyega Dosunmu, by assisting widows with financial support, food items and free hair plaiting for the Eid-el-Kabir festival,” the monarch said.

He added that caring for widows and the less privileged remained a collective responsibility that should be embraced by leaders and well-meaning individuals across society, while also drawing inspiration from the incumbent traditional ruler.

I am also following the legacy of the current Olowu of Owu, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola, who has consistently demonstrated the spirit of giving back to society and caring for the people,” he said.

Oba Adediran also commended Olori Bosun Dosunmu, wife of the late Olowu, for her humanitarian contributions and dedication to the development of the Owu Kingdom, particularly in the areas of education and peaceful coexistence.

“Olori Bosun Dosunmu has been doing well in terms of giving free education to pupils. She has also been doing so many things for the peaceful coexistence of Owu Kingdom,” he stated.

Also speaking, the convener of the initiative, Olori Olufolake Adediran, urged women to remain strong pillars within their families and communities and to continue supporting one another.

“All women should come together and continue to be true pillars in their families and the community,” she said.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of the “Illustrious Mother of the Year” award to Olori Bosun Dosunmu in recognition of her contributions to humanity and community development.

Among the dignitaries present were Olori Adijat and Aminat Matemilola, the Iyaloja of Iba in Lagos, Chief Mrs. Adeosun, alongside other prominent women leaders and traditional representatives.
