Military dislodge terrorists, liberate Alkaleri communities in Bauchi, recover AK-47
Troops of the 3 Division Nigerian Army have successfully dislodged armed terrorists from Mansur Village and surrounding settlements in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State, recovering an AK-47 rifle in a major operational breakthrough under Operation BUGUN KARKANDA III.
The offensive, part of intensified efforts to safeguard residents and restore normalcy, targeted flashpoints where terrorists had attempted to assert dominance, significantly disrupting their operations and criminal networks.
In a statement on Thursday, Lieutenant Colonel Olumide Victor Olukoya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 3 Division, said the troops executed a deliberate and coordinated advance into the identified positions.
“Following a well-coordinated offensive, troops rapidly established dominance over key areas and successfully dislodged armed terrorists from Mansur Village. A thorough clearance led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, further weakening the terrorists’ operational capacity,” the statement read.
Troops have since intensified patrols across Alkaleri LGA to sustain security, restore law and order, and prevent a resurgence of criminal activity. The operations have also facilitated the safe return of displaced residents, allowing communities to resume socio-economic activities.
Major General Folusho Oyinlola, General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation Enduring Peace, commended the troops’ performance and urged them to maintain momentum, emphasizing the army’s commitment to protecting vulnerable communities and ensuring lasting peace in Bauchi State.
