Madein Calls On Remo Indigenes In Diaspora, Commends Abiodun’s Strides
Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Sakirat MADEIN, the first female and immediate past Accountant General of the Federation, has called on Remo Sons and Daughters to come home and join hands to develop the zone together.
She made the call while speaking in an interview during the Remo Day Celebration held on Saturday, 27th December, 2025, at Sagamu.
She lauded the developmental achievements of Ogun State Governor Dapo ABIODUN and the unifying leadership of the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Adewale AJAYI, while urging all sons and daughters of Remo to return home and actively contribute to the region's growth.
Dr. MADEIN described the Remo Day Celebration as "a unifying event for all sons and daughters of Remoland." Reflecting on her personal experience, she stated, "I feel highly elated being a part of the second edition because having seen how it went in 2024 during the maiden edition, i have a little bit of time to plan and to think of so many things that can be taken away from the celebration, having a first-hand experience of Remo values to be tapped from the annual celebration."
Praising Governor ABIODUN's administration over the past six years, Dr. MADEIN highlighted key infrastructure projects that deserve commendation, including the Gateway International Agro Cargo Airport. "The airport, which has commenced commercial flights is a well built edifice with quality runway, among other world-class equipments that are of international standard. This has attracted a lot of people both at home and abroad, to Iperu, in particular, and Remo, as a whole. As a result of that, so many business activities are improving, and industries are springing up in and around Remo," she explained.
She also noted efforts on road construction, such as the Ijebu Ode-Epe Expressway, and the ongoing Ijebu Ode-Ketu-Ikorodu-Epe road. "Road construction is ongoing in many locations. It might not have reached everywhere, but i believe, if given the opportunity, he will do more, even in other areas."
Dr. MADEIN commended the governor for fostering an enabling environment long desired by Ogun State's citizens. "He has provided the enabling environment and has created the sense of belonging for the citizens of Ogun State, as everyone is now coming around to develop Ogun State, and this is what has encouraged me to show interest in what is happening in the State
The Executive Governor is doing very well, and I wish him more of this, and i pray that he will succeed in this last part of his tenure, and so many legacies that he will leave behind, will speak well of him, even many years after he ceases to be the Governor of Ogun State."
Turning to the Akarigbo, Oba Babatunde Adewale AJAYI, Dr. MADEIN hailed him as "the epitome of unity for all Remo," who has brought the community together. She shared her insights as a member of the Remo Women of Excellence, noting that "most members who stayed abroad have travelled back home to attend the event and the celebration, and that has helped them to see wonderful things that are happening in Remo and Nigeria, and this has been attracting their investment abilities and ideas, with many of them thinking of how they can contribute their quota towards developing Remo into a mega division that it is supposed to be."
In a passionate call to action, Dr. MADEIN charged Remo sons and daughters to unite for development. "Come home and let us develop Remo together," she urged, emphasizing the utilization of Remo's hidden potentials. "Remo has the advantage of being a gateway to other states of the country either the North, South or the East, as there is none of these states you will be travelling to without passing through Sagamu"
Aligning with the Paramount Ruler's efforts, she added, "Our Kabiyesi is doing well by reaching out to all Remo sons and daughters, encouraging them to come home and be part of this development, and I will equally join force with him to ask that all Remo sons and daughters that are yet to align with the Remo Day activities and all other developmental activities going on in Remo should come home. They should visit Remo to see what is happening and be part of it. Together, we can take Remo to greater heights."
As a member of the Remo Women of Excellence and Remo Growth and Development Foundation, Dr. MADEIN, who is also the Founder and Chairperson of Olowo Oloye Foundation, expressed optimism about Remo's progress. "I feel the growth and development of Remo is tremendous. We will keep on riding. We need more in the hospitality sector. Also in the education sector, we need a federal university in Remoland; siting a federal university in Remo will boost the socio-economic status and give the youths the opportunity of admission without going too far."
She spotlighted emerging opportunities, such as the recently established industrial park dedicated to accomodate big industries, including warehouses, logistics and housing estates, noting its proximity to the Gateway International Airport, and the vast land available for agricultural purposes. "I call on my fellow Remo sons and daughters both at home and in the diaspora to come home and be part of the core development. They should not wait so that someone later will not be telling the story around.
There are many opportunities in Remo... Investors will definitely not regret their investment," she concluded, adding, "Ajose gbogbo wa ni o, Remo agbe wa o."
The Remo Day Celebration continues to serve as a platform for cultural preservation, unity, and socio-economic discourse, drawing participants from across Nigeria and the diaspora.
