LSETF opens applications for free employability training

The Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, in partnership with the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment and the United Nations Development Programme, has commenced applications for the third phase of the Lagos State Employability Support Project.

The project offers free skills training and business development support to young residents and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

Targeted at Lagos residents between the ages of 18 and 45 as well as MSME owners, the project is aimed at improving employability, strengthening businesses and creating sustainable livelihoods through industry-focused training.

According to a statement issued by LSETF, the initiative builds on the successes recorded in previous phases and is designed to equip participants with practical skills that respond to current labour market needs and emerging economic opportunities.

The agency said the third phase of the programme would focus on four key areas: digital skills, leatherwork, compressed natural gas, and MSME capacity building.

“The third phase of the project seeks to provide beneficiaries with practical, industry-relevant training that aligns with current labour market demands and emerging economic opportunities,” the statement said.

It added that the programme formed part of the state’s broader strategy to prepare residents for the changing economy while supporting business growth and job creation

The Lagos State Employability Support Project represents another important step towards equipping our people with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in today’s evolving economy.

“Through strategic partnerships, we continue to create opportunities that enable individuals and businesses to become more productive, competitive and economically resilient,” the agency said.

LSETF urged interested applicants to submit their applications before July 31, 2026, noting that applicants must possess a valid Lagos State Residents Registration Agency card, while graduates are also required to present their National Youth Service Corps certificate where applicable.

Applications are being received online through the project’s application portal.

The agency said the initiative aligned with the Lagos State Government’s efforts to reduce unemployment, improve workforce competitiveness, strengthen MSMEs and promote inclusive economic growth through strategic partnerships.

Established by the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund Law, 2016, LSETF provides financial support, entrepreneurship development and employability programmes aimed at creating jobs and expanding economic opportunities for Lagos residents.
