London Mayor congratulates Nigerian Bus Aunty on UK TikTok award
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has congratulated Nigerian content creator Bemi Orojogun, popularly known as London Bus Aunty, for winning Video of the Year at the TikTok UK Awards 2025.
In a post shared on his X page on Sunday, Khan said, “Congratulations to London’s very own Bus Aunty for winning Video of the Year at the TikTok Awards.”
Orojogun, a Nigerian TikTok creator based in the United Kingdom, was nominated alongside Friends of Elmtree, Sam Morris, Gardiner Brothers, Joseph Machines, and Brad Ben for the prestigious award, which celebrates standout creators on the platform.
The Mayor highlighted Orojogun’s signature passion for London’s buses, tweeting, “Her love of our iconic red buses has captured hearts across the country.”
Khan also referenced Orojogun’s enthusiasm for the city’s public transport, noting, “And did you know? She’s a proud fan of the Bakerloop – London’s newest express bus route.”
The winning video has reportedly been viewed almost 50 million times on TikTok, according to BBC News.
While accepting the award on Friday, Orojogun shared motivational advice, saying, “Don’t allow your age to stop you. Don’t allow your family to say don’t do that, it’s embarrassing. If you love it, do it.”
earlier report that Orojogun, who first went viral in 2024 with a forced-perspective video, has since transformed from an internet curiosity into a full-fledged influencer.
She has collaborated with brands including Burberry, H&M, IKEA, Jacquemus, Maybelline, and JBL, and recently partnered with MAC Cosmetics.
The middle-aged creator has also worked with public figures, including the Mayor of London, on initiatives such as the city’s 2,000 zero-emission buses project.
Fans have affectionately nicknamed her “London Bus Aunty,” and her videos, filmed from the roadside pavement, have inspired playful reactions online, with some Nigerians jokingly challenging her to recreate the stunts in busy areas like Oshodi or CMS.
