LASG reaffirms commitment to youth empowerment

The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment and overall human development.

The assurance was given by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, while playing host to the Forum of State Chairmen of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, led by its chairman, Adigun Olalekan, in Lagos.

A Wednesday statement noted that Ogunlende lauded the forum “for their contributions in their respective states” and urged them to “remain exemplary ambassadors of Nigeria.”

The commissioner emphasised that their leadership roles serve not only as platforms for service but also as training grounds for greater opportunities ahead.

He reiterated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to maintaining Lagos “as a model for youth inclusion and human capital development.”

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, had earlier received the delegation alongside directors and senior officials of the ministry at Alausa, Ikeja.

During the meeting, Oke-Osanyintolu highlighted a range of ongoing programmes and initiatives targeted at building youth capacity, enhancing social welfare, and strengthening community development

She also noted that Lagos State, under the leadership of Governor Sanwo-Olu and the administration’s THEMES+ Agenda, “continues to broaden opportunities for young people through innovative policies and cross-sector partnerships.”

In his remarks, Adigun, who is also the Lagos State Chairman of the NYCN, reaffirmed the forum’s commitment “to strengthening partnerships with government institutions nationwide to scale up youth-focused initiatives and reposition the NYCN for greater national impact.”

The forum also commended the ministry for its sustained commitment to youth empowerment in the state.
