LASEMA contains fire at Ago medical centre

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) says it has successfully contained a raging fire that engulfed sections of a storey building housing Ago Medical Centre, off Ago Palace Way, Okota.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, disclosed this in a statement issued in the early hours of Saturday.
According to Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency activated the state’s emergency response plan and deployed its response team from Oshodi after receiving distress calls on its 767/112 emergency toll-free lines at 18:29 hrs on Friday.
Upon arrival at 18:50 hrs, LASEMA’s Eagle Response Team discovered that sections of a storey building housing a hospital were engulfed in flames at the mentioned address.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire was triggered by a power surge, which caused a spark when public electricity was restored,” Oke-Osanyintolu stated.
He confirmed that no lives were lost and no injuries were recorded during the incident.
Oke-Osanyintolu further noted that emergency responders were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjoining buildings.
“The fire is still raging, and responders are battling to extinguish it. Response and recovery operations are in progress,” he added.
He listed emergency responders at the scene, including the LASEMA Response Team, LASEMA Fire Unit, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos Neighbourhood and Security Corps, and the Nigeria Police Force.
