Katsina police begin enforcement of tinted glass permit Thursday

The Katsina State Police Command has announced the commencement of enforcement for vehicle tinted glass permit regulations, effective from Thursday, October 2, 2025.

In a press release issued on Wednesday by its Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, the command urged motorists to comply with the new directive to avoid penalties.

It said the regulation aims to enhance public safety and security across the state by ensuring all vehicles with tinted windows are properly registered and permitted.

The statement read, “The Katsina State Police Command wishes to notify the general public, particularly motorists, of the commencement of the enforcement of Vehicle Tinted Glass Permit Regulations. This enforcement exercise will take effect from Thursday, October 2, 2025.

All vehicle owners and drivers whose vehicles are fitted with tinted glasses are advised to ensure compliance by registering and obtaining the requisite permit.”

According to the statement, registration can be done online through the official website https://possap.gov.ng.

Applicants will present relevant documents for physical verification at the Katsina State Police Command Headquarters.

The documents include vehicle particulars, proof of ownership, tinted glass specifications (including type and shade), National Identification Number, and vehicle license data page.

“The Command urges the public to cooperate fully with this directive, aimed at enhancing public safety and security across the state,” Aliyu said.

report that police gave 30 days from May 1 for motorists to apply for a tinted glass permit or regularise existing ones.

The enforcement was later extended to August 12, after which the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, extended the grace period for enforcing the tinted glass permit requirement for vehicles.

The new enforcement date was set for October 2. The decision followed a surge in applications through the official portal, which the Force said reflects increased public compliance.
