Jigawa police warn scrap dealers over explosives risk

The Jigawa State Police Command has raised the alarm on the hidden dangers scrap dealers face from explosive materials.
reports that the command is leading the initiative at launching a fresh safety campaign to protect lives and property across the state.
The program, held on Wednesday in Dutse, the state capital, was themed “Explosive Ordinance Risk Awareness and Sensitisation Campaign” and came as a proactive response to a recent deadly explosion in neighbouring Kano State that caused multiple injuries and fatalities.
Speaking at the event, the Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Dahiru, stressed the importance of immediately reporting any suspicious items to the nearest police station to prevent accidents.
The CP, represented by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Abubakar Kundi, praised the initiative and urged scrap dealers to modernise their trade by avoiding suspicious or stolen goods and to cooperate with the police in its efforts to keep communities safe.
