The Member representing Odogbolu State Constituency, Hon. Lukman Adeleye along with hundreds of the PDP Excos, was formally received by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward 9, Ibefun, in Odogbolu Local Government Area, at a gathering marked by enthusiasm and party solidarity on Wednesday.

The event drew party faithful, community leaders, and supporters from across the local government, serving as a platform to reaffirm unity within the ward and strengthen grassroots mobilization efforts.

Hon. Lukman Adeleye was the Minority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly until his defection to the ruling party, alongside his loyal supporters and opposition party executives at both the ward and local government levels.

Welcoming him and other decampees from the PDP, the APC Ward 9 Chairman in Ibefun, Mr. Yekini Rasheed, expressed delight at his defection, noting that the party in Odogbolu is pleased to receive him. He commended Adeleye’s performance, even while in the opposition.

In his words: “We assure you of our full support for your second term as the member representing Odogbolu State Constituency. There is no more opposition in Odogbolu Local Government.”

Also speaking, the APC Chairman in Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. Muyiwa Idowu (Akogun), said Adeleye’s defection would further consolidate the party’s influence in Ibefun and across the local government, assuring that it would promote inclusive leadership and sustained community engagement.

“I warmly welcome you to the progressive family in Odogbolu Local Government. Now that you have joined the APC, we also welcome your supporters. Be assured of our 100% support as the representative of Odogbolu State Constituency,” Akogun stated.

Speaking with journalists, Hon. Adeleye said his defection was not driven by fear of the 2027 elections, emphasizing his active role in governance since 2023.

He noted that as a former Minority Leader, he contributed significantly to legislative support for the administration, adding that governance is a collaborative effort between the executive and legislative arms.

“What is happening today is in appreciation of the giant strides of the Ogun State Government led by Prince Dapo Abiodun, as well as the leadership of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I am a Yoruba man first, and there is nothing wrong in joining forces to move Nigeria forward,” he said.

He further revealed that the entire minority caucus in the Ogun State House of Assembly has now joined the APC, describing it as a total defection.

“You can see the momentum across Ogun State. We are here to stay and to collaborate with existing APC members. The broom revolution is real in Odogbolu Local Government,” he added.

Hon. Adeleye later proceeded to the APC Party Secretariat in Ibefun, where he formally registered as a member of the party.
