How suspected thief killed Ogun motorcyclist – Police
The Ogun State Police Command has narrated how a 27-year-old man, Chidi Ebere, suspected of attempting to snatch a motorcycle, stabbed the rider, Sunday Ogbu, to death in the Igbesa area of the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
Oluseyi noted that the incident occurred at about 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to the PPRO, the suspect had boarded the victim’s motorcycle before launching an attack in a bid to steal the bike, leading to a violent struggle.

The police added that a witness at the scene raised the alarm, which prompted officers to respond swiftly.

The suspect was said to have been apprehended at the scene, while the motorcycle and the knife used in the attack were recovered as exhibits.

Oluseyi noted that the case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the act and assured that justice would be served.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.
“Members of the public are advised to report concerns through the Ogun State Police Command emergency lines,” the statement added.
This comes barely 48 hours after PUNCH Metro reported that three suspects were arrested in connection with the murder of a 35-year-old man, Saleh Ibrahim, and the subsequent unrest in Zaki Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The incident had occurred on March 15, 2026, when Ibrahim was attacked and killed with a sharp object, suspected to be a cutlass, by unidentified assailants while riding his motorcycle, which was also stolen.
