Gombe gov fumes as gunmen kill two, abduct four

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Sunday condemned the gruesome murder of two residents, Yusuf Daddy and his sister Faiza, in Pindiga town, Akko Local Government Area, describing the attack as barbaric, cruel, and utterly unacceptable.

The killings, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, were accompanied by the abduction of four other persons.

In a statement issued by the Director-General of Press Affairs at Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli, the governor said the targeting of innocent citizens in their homes, alongside the kidnapping of women and children, constitutes a heinous crime that affronts humanity and undermines the peace and security the state has worked to maintain.

“This dastardly act is a direct assault on our collective conscience and a painful test of our resolve to protect lives and property. The government and people of Gombe State share in the grief and anguish of the affected families and the entire Pindiga community,” the statement read.

Governor Yahaya vowed that the perpetrators would not go unpunished. He disclosed that the Nigeria Police and other security agencies had commenced intensive investigations into the killings and abductions.

He directed that all necessary resources be deployed to track down the attackers, rescue the abducted victims unharmed, and bring all involved to justice.

Reiterating his administration’s commitment to security, the governor warned criminals and their collaborators that Gombe State would not serve as a haven for them.

Security operations will be intensified, intelligence gathering strengthened, and collaboration with communities deepened,” he said.

Governor Yahaya urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with security agencies, assuring the people of Pindiga and the entire state that the government stands firmly with them and will take decisive measures to ensure peace and safety.

He extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and the Pindiga Emirate, praying for strength and fortitude to bear the loss, and for the safe and speedy rescue of those abducted.
