Gombe begins N68.58bn modern secretariat complex construction

The Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya on Tuesday, performed ground-breaking for the construction of a N68.58-billion state civil service secretariat complex.
During the event in Gombe, Yahaya said that the existing state secretariat structure built 29 years ago was long overdue for upgrade.
He said that the new edifice was part of his promise to leave Gombe better than he found it.
He stated that his administration embarked on the project to develop a modern, state-of-the-art secretariat that meets the needs of 21st century governance.
He added that “this complex will include the Head of Service block, four additional blocks that can house four ministries each.
“The new project also involves remodelling of existing structures and provision of necessary external works and ancillary facilities.
“More than just offices, the new complex would be a central hub designed to enhance coordination, reduce overhead cost and most importantly, boost productivity and morale of civil servants.
The complex total cost is N68,584,902,944, with completion period of 102 weeks.”
The governor said that with the inauguration of new state secretariat complex and ongoing State House of Assembly and State High Court complexes, his administration’s envisioned Three-Arms Zone is complete.
He noted that the Three Arms Zone, when completed, would ensure that government has the infrastructure required to deliver quality services to the people.
He, therefore, charged the contractors to deliver excellent service on schedule and in accordance with specifications and standards.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the governor also inspected key ongoing projects in the state, as part of activities for his 6th Anniversary.
Some of the projects are: the Mega College, Gombe, House of Assembly and Judiciary Complexes, the Gombe-Ashaka–FCE(T) Road and infrastructure at the upcoming Mechanic Village, Gombe.
