Ganduje decries obsolete equipment, abandoned projects at MMIA

Chairman, FAAN Board Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Abdullahi Ganduje, has voiced concerns about some of the equipment at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and described them as obsolete
Ganduje, who said first-class international airports were a product of humans, facility improvement and development, argued that with motivation and visionary management, Nigerian airports could attain world class standards
The former Kano State governor, who spoke during his maiden inspection tour of MMIA, also lamented that abandoned projects littered the airport.
His words: “There are some challenges and we have started discussing how things will be resolved. What matters is that all of us are conversant with international airports, especially in the developed countries. Whatever we have seen there is a product of human beings. It is a product of facility improvement and development. They are a product of motivation or visionary management of the organisation. That is what we want here. Some of the challenges, according to them and according to what we have seen, are abandoned projects awarded many years ago, not awarded by the present management. Of course, prices have gone up. Some equipment originally put in place are now obsolete going by modern technology. However, they have designed a method in order to resolve all such issues. Also financing. For the abandoned project, they are being sorted out to see how we can scale some and make better use of them.”
