Falomo laid to rest in Ilesa amid tributes
Dignitaries from all walks of life converged on Ilesa, Osun State, on Saturday for the funeral service of the late Lofosan of Ilesa, Chief Michael Falomo.
Falomo, who was born on August 24, 1938, in Ilesa, Osun State, to the family of Papa Ekunsanmi Faloma and Mrs Emily Oyinlola Falomo, died on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the age of 87.
During his lifetime, Falomo was a member of the Island Club Lagos, Ilesa Frontlines, Ikoyi Club 1938, Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Yoruba Tennis Club, and Ilesa Social Elite, among others.
He also belonged to several charity organisations, such as the Federal Nigeria Society for the Blind, Ile Anu Oluwa Pre School Unit for Physically Challenged children, D.O Fagunwa Foundation, and a member of the Board of Trustees of Osun State UNDP/ Assisted Sustainable Human Development Fund.
The memorial service, held at the Cathedral Church of St. John, Iloro, Ilesa, Osun State, with the deceased children, siblings, families and well-wishers in attendance, was also witnessed by the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Chief Yinka Fasuyi, among others
In his sermon, the Bishop of Ilesa Southwest Diocese, Rt Rev Adebola Ojofeitimi, urged the deceased’s family to rejoice, describing the late Falomo as a man with a good heart.
Rev Ojofeitimi also said believers can rejoice at the death of a believer, adding that believers are not like the rest of humanity and do not belong to the same kingdom
He noted that God has given believers victory over death through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, urging the deceased children to rejoice in a life well lived by their father.
The Bishop added that the late Chief Falomo, during his lifetime, lived well because he had faith in Jesus Christ, and his objective was to make others happy.
“Your father lived well. He lived well, not because he made money. He lived well because of his faith in Jesus Christ. His objective for leaving was to make others happy,” the cleric stated.
