EPL: Hull City hold Chelsea to 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge
Newly promoted Hull City twice came from behind to hold Chelsea to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Chelsea took the lead in the seventh minute through Morgan Rogers, who finished a move to give the hosts an early advantage.
Hull responded in the 28th minute when Mohamed Belloumi levelled the score before the forward struck again six minutes later to put the visitors 2-1 ahead.
Chelsea went into the break trailing despite dominating possession for periods of the opening half.
The hosts increased the pressure after the interval and restored parity in the 66th minute when João Pedro converted Cole Palmer’s low cross
Chelsea pushed for a winning goal in the closing stages, but Hull held firm to secure a point away from home.
Goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis played a key role for the visitors as Chelsea created further chances late in the game.
The draw leaves Hull unbeaten after four matches of the campaign, while Chelsea dropped points at home.
Belloumi’s two goals were the difference in a first half in which Hull recovered from conceding early and took the lead before the interval.
