Edo Assembly vows support for Okpebholo’s policies

The Edo State House of Assembly, under the leadership of the Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, on Sunday reaffirmed continuous support for the policies and programmes of Governor Monday Okpebholo.

Agbebaku stated this when he and members of the Assembly paid an Easter visit to the governor at his residence in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Patrick Ebojele, Agbebaku said the support would ensure that the governor fulfilled his electioneering promises to the Edo people.

On behalf of the 24 members of the Assembly, Agbebaku commended the governor for the notable achievements recorded in governance since he assumed office on November 12, 2024.

Today, we are in your country home to celebrate Easter with you and to also let you know that you are doing great work for the Edo people.

“We promise to support you as a house and assure you that every budget you submit to the house will appropriately be approved to ensure you continue to implement the SHINE agenda for the benefit of the Edo people.

“When you bring the budget, we will look at it properly and do the needful. We will continue to collaborate with the executive and support your developmental agenda for the betterment of the Edo people.

It will be indelible in the history of Nigeria, in the history of Edo State and the world that the first flyover in Edo is being constructed by your administration, and you have done so much for Edo people in the last year in office,” he said.

Responding, Okpebholo thanked the lawmakers for the harmonious working relationship with the executive arm of government.

He said the relationship had brought unity between the two arms of government, enabling his administration to actualise and achieve a lot in the area of infrastructural development in the last year.

He appealed for more cooperation in the coming year, noting that his administration would achieve a lot in a peaceful environment.

“I am very happy that since I assumed office in November 2024, you have created a peaceful atmosphere for my administration to achieve its set goals and implement policies that have moved the state forward.

“The harmonious working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government is largely responsible for the success recorded by my administration in the past year.

“We have been working together in unity, and since we came together as one, there have been tangible and positive results to show for our cooperation and collaboration.

When the House is united, and there is no division, there is always progress to show the people of Edo,” he noted.
