Delta monarch hails Obi Cubana’s investments, says projects repositioning Asaba
The Asagba of Asaba, Epiphany Azinge, has commended entrepreneur and chairman of Cubana Group, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, for expanding private sector investment in the Delta State capital, saying his projects are helping to reposition the city for economic growth.
According to a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Sunday, the monarch gave the commendation when Obi Cubana and members of his team paid a courtesy visit to the Asagba Palace in Asaba.
He described the visit as one of mutual engagement and shared commitment to the development of the city, noting that the businessman’s investments in real estate, hospitality and lifestyle infrastructure are strengthening Asaba’s profile as an emerging investment destination.
The monarch said Obi Cubana’s footprint represents growing confidence in the city’s future, adding that such investments send a strong signal to other investors.
What we are seeing is a deliberate effort to raise the bar of investment in Asaba. These are not just projects; they are statements of confidence in our city and its future,” he said.
He added that high-value investments contribute to job creation and economic expansion across sectors, including hospitality, construction, commerce and services.
The Asagba also assured investors of the community’s readiness to support business development, noting that traditional institutions remain committed to creating an enabling environment for investment.
He said Asaba is increasingly opening up to partnerships with serious investors and stakeholders aimed at driving sustainable growth.
The monarch further highlighted ongoing infrastructure and development plans, including the proposed waterfront project, “Legacy of the Sun,” and other initiatives aimed at expanding the city’s economic base.
He noted that Asaba’s proximity to Onitsha and its position within the eastern economic corridor place it at a strategic advantage for long-term growth.
He also said discussions with stakeholders in Nigeria’s financial and digital sectors are reinforcing confidence in the city’s potential, particularly in emerging areas such as technology and innovation.
Responding, Obi Cubana expressed appreciation for the reception and reaffirmed his commitment to continued investment in Asaba through projects such as the Cubana Millennium City and the planned Cubana Wonderland.
He said the initiatives are designed to create value, opportunities and long-term impact for residents and investors.
“Our vision is to build more than businesses; we are building a legacy,” he said.
The visit underscored growing collaboration between traditional leadership and private sector investors in the development of Asaba.
