Customs, Delta Ports seek stronger collaboration

The Nigeria Customs Service, Edo/Delta Area Command, has called for stronger collaboration with Delta Ports to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.

The new Edo/Delta Customs Area Controller, Dooyum Ortsen, made the call on Thursday when he led his management team on a courtesy visit to the Ports Manager of Delta Ports, Warri, Saadi Dahiru Mohammed.

The visit was aimed at strengthening institutional relations, improving communication and fostering cooperation between the two organisations.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by an Assistant Superintendent of Customs in the command’s Public Relations Office, Peters Josu, and made available to journalists in Warri.

According to the statement, the visit “was aimed at fostering mutual understanding, enhancing communication, and reinforcing the existing relationship between both parties”.

It added that the meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss areas of common interest and explore ways to improve cooperation in support of efficient port operations and service delivery.

Josu said the importance of maintaining cordial working relationships, regular communication and mutual cooperation was emphasised during the engagement.

The statement read, “Both parties acknowledged that although their respective responsibilities may differ, effective collaboration remains essential to achieving shared objectives, particularly in promoting operational efficiency, safety, and professionalism within the port environment.”

It added that the meeting highlighted the need for continuous dialogue and stakeholder engagement to address operational challenges, strengthen working relationships and ensure the smooth conduct of activities within the port.

According to the statement, the visit reflected the organisations’ commitment to building sustainable partnerships with relevant stakeholders and maintaining positive institutional relations.

It expressed optimism that the engagement would strengthen cooperation and create opportunities for sustained collaboration in the interest of effective service delivery.

The statement added that both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the relationship through regular engagement, open communication and a shared dedication to achieving common goals.

It said the visit formed part of ongoing efforts to promote stakeholder relations, encourage inter-agency cooperation and strengthen partnerships that would contribute to improved operational efficiency and service delivery.
