Bayelsa APC gets new coordinators, fixes congress dates
Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State on Friday inaugurated coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors across the eight local government areas of the state under the chapter of the All Progressives Congress.
At a stakeholders’ meeting held at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall in Yenagoa, the governor charged the newly inaugurated coordinators to mobilise party members ahead of the ward, local government and state congresses. He announced that the state coordinator remains Chief Tiwei Orunimighe.
Diri urged the RHA leadership at both local government and state levels to operate inclusively and to work closely with the South-South zonal coordinator, Ifeanyi Okowa.
He cautioned party leaders against divisive tendencies and called for unity across wards and local government areas. The governor also urged members to suspend personal political ambitions and prioritise President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
As we all know, our six-year anniversary will be tomorrow. It’s going to be a low-key event which we deliberately planned following the demise of my deputy.
“As a result of the death of our deputy governor, I decided to downplay this year’s remembrance,” he said.
The RHA local government coordinators inaugurated are Kuro Matthias Nyenye (Nembe), Dr. Godson Torukuru (Yenagoa), Uroh Kiani (Brass), Biewari Orupeighe (Southern Ijaw), High Chief Okubokakpo Ombu (Sagbama), Chief Ebinyo Turner (Ogbia), Tonye Isenah (Kolokuma/Opokuma) and Orubebe Ogeibiri (Ekeremor), he noted.
Diri also constituted committees to oversee the party’s ward congresses across the local government areas.

In his remarks, the chairman of the APC caretaker committee, Dr. Otiotio, said the party’s national secretariat had released the timetable for the ward, local government and state congresses, as well as the national convention.
He stated that the ward and local government congresses would hold on February 18 and 21 respectively, while the state congress is scheduled for March 1, 2026.
