Army decorates five officers promoted to lieutenant colonel
The Nigerian Army has promoted five senior officers to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel following approval by the Nigerian Army Council.
The investiture ceremony was held at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Education Corps (NAEC), An Barracks, Yaba, Lagos, where the officers were formally decorated after their elevation from the rank of Major.
According to a post by the Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, Headquarters Nigerian Army Education Corps, Lagos, Captain Abdullahi Osabo, on X on Monday, the ceremony was presided over by the Acting Corps Commander Education, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, who congratulated the officers and described their promotion as a reflection of their service record.

“You must see this new rank as a call to greater responsibility, enhanced leadership, and unwavering commitment to excellence,” Ahmed said.
He urged the officers to remain disciplined and focused, stressing the importance of continuous self-development within the military education system and broader operational environment.
Ahmed also thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for approving the promotions, reaffirming the Corps’ commitment to the Army’s command philosophy.
The newly promoted officers are Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Samson, Lieutenant Colonel James Oko Egwu, Lieutenant Colonel Paul Mathew Ambore, Lieutenant Colonel Ismail Ajibola Usman, and Lieutenant Colonel Hamza Modibbo Ahmad.
Speaking on behalf of the promoted officers, Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Samson thanked the Army leadership for the confidence placed in them.
“We sincerely appreciate the trust reposed in us by the leadership of the Nigerian Army.
“We pledge to justify this confidence by upholding the highest standards of professionalism and contributing meaningfully to the growth of the Corps and the Army,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers, colleagues, family members, and well-wishers who witnessed the decoration and celebration of the milestone.
