Akinlawon Reaffirms Loyalty To Senator Adeola Amid Ogun West Political Tensions
Prince Oluwafemi Akinlawon, an All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for Isokan State Constituency 1, has publicly reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola amid growing political tensions and questions over his allegiance within Ogun West.
In a strongly worded statement released on Wednesday, Akinlawon dismissed insinuations that his recent commendation of federal lawmaker Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka signaled a shift in political loyalty, insisting his support for Adeola popularly known as Yayi remains “complete and unconditional.”
Akinlawon traced his backing of Adeola to a period before the senator’s emergence as the APC consensus candidate on April 13, 2026, emphasizing his early grassroots efforts, which he said were personally funded.
“I was a Yayi man before it was fashionable,” he stated, detailing how he financed campaign materials and mobilization activities without external support or expectation of reward.
The APC aspirant argued that acknowledging the performance of Isiaka, who represents Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, should not be misconstrued as disloyalty, noting the distinction between federal and state political roles.
“Recognising the work of our federal representative does not diminish my support for Senator Yayi as the next governor of Ogun State,” Akinlawon said, accusing critics of either misunderstanding governance structures or deliberately distorting facts for political gain.
He also took aim at unnamed party members, alleging that some individuals questioning his loyalty had contributed little to Adeola’s political project prior to its gaining momentum.
Akinlawon further aligned himself with the unity agenda championed by Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, describing the governor’s endorsement of Adeola as a “historic, courageous and selfless” move that strengthened political cohesion in Yewa.
He warned against actions that could undermine the fragile unity in Ogun West, stressing that the progressives’ cause must remain intact ahead of future electoral contests.
Reiterating his political stance, Akinlawon declared himself “a core progressive, a Yayi faithful, and a party loyalist,” pledging continued support for Adeola’s governorship ambition and the broader development of Ogun West.
The statement comes amid heightened political maneuvering within the APC in Ogun State, as stakeholders position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
