A’Ibom cleric urges end to Akpabio, Akpoti-Uduaghan feud

The General Overseer of the Frontline Missionary Church in Ekom, Iman, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Apostle Unyime Nkanta, has urged the Red Chambers to apply wisdom to quickly resolve the festering feud between the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
He said the incident is not giving a good impression about Nigeria in the international arena.
The feud between Akpabio, representing Akwa Ibom North West and Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, which started over a misunderstanding in the change of seats at the Upper legislative house, degenerated when the Kogi senator appeared on Arise TV, accusing the Senate President of sexual harassment.
She claimed that her suppression and victimization in the Red Chambers was due to her refusal to succumb to the Senate President’s advances. The incident worsened with suits and countersuits from the two parties in the fray
But speaking with journalists on Sunday in his office after the service, Nkanta, who claimed he received an unction to pray for the Senate President for God to grant him wisdom before the incident happened, asserted that the row would have been averted if wisdom had been applied.
“We raised prayers for Nigeria as a whole, and it was during that prayer that I received a special unction to pray for the Senate President for God to grant him wisdom on how to manage the affairs of the Senate.
These prayers were raised before the manifestation of what is going on in the Senate now. We pray that God should intervene in the interest of the nation”, Nkanta said
He added,” God said we should pray for wisdom. If wisdom was applied, what happened should have been handled internally,y and it wouldn’t have come to the stage that we are beginning to hear now, which is not nice
“It’s not good for our children to hear. At this moment when Nigeria is faced with economic crisis, this is not what we are supposed to hear; we want to hear how to move the country forward and how life should be easy for the common man. In fact, in the face of International bodies, it looks as if we’re not serious”.
The man of God, who emphasised that prayers and practical work can help accelerate the country’s socioeconomic development, expressed the hope that Nigeria’s economy will soon bounce back.
He said, “Nigeria’s economy will bounce back. I believe Nigeria’s economy will bounce back if this administration gets involved in positive things. For now, you can see the price of fuel coming down a bit. This is a very good thing, and people are beginning to appreciate that the price of fuel has dropped below N1000. So, I believe that prayers and practical work can help improve the Economy ”
He called on those in leadership positions to always listen to contributions from the masses and carry them along in the scheme of things.
