26-year-old kills Bauchi grandpa

A 26-year-old man, Bashar Aliyu, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly killing his 70-year-old grandfather, Ibrahim Maisaje.

Saturday news gathered that Aliyu allegedly stabbed the septuagenarian to death with a knife at Sabon Kariya Village, Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state, on May 17.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command, Nafiu Abubakar, the incident was reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Ganjuwa, by a 58-year-old resident.

Habib stated that the suspect was promptly arrested while preliminary investigation commenced.

Habib further revealed that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the act and assured the public that justice would be pursued in accordance with the law.

The police commissioner also urged members of the public to embrace peaceful conflict resolution and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies to prevent similar incidents.
