2027 Senate: Akintunde Congratulates Gov Abiodun On Emergence As APC Candidate For Ogun East
Lauds APC Senatorial Leaders For The Endorsement
The Convener of the Yayi Progressives Movement, a leading political group in Ogun State, has congratulated the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, on his emergence as the preferred senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun-East Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Abiodun was unanimously endorsed by APC leaders in Ogun-East on Monday, April 20, 2026, during a stakeholders’ meeting held at Adeola Odutola Hall, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. Party stakeholders across the senatorial district unanimously agreed to support Abiodun's candidacy as the party’s flag bearer for the forthcoming Senatorial election.
In his congratulatory message, Akintunde stated that Governor Abiodun’s emergence was a reflection of destiny and divine timing. He recalled Abiodun’s participation in the 2015 senatorial race, which was eventually won by the late Prince Buruji Kashamu.
He further expressed confidence that the governor would secure victory in the 2027 election and represent Ogun-East effectively in the Senate.
“I am delighted with our leader and Governor over his endorsement by party leaders in Ogun East Senatorial District. I was part of the process when His Excellency contested in the 2015 senatorial election. I have no doubt that God has a purpose for everything we do in life.
“I rejoice with our leaders in Ogun-East Senatorial District for endorsing our Governor and illustrious son from Iperu, in Ikenne Local Government. This is something many thought would not happen again, but our elders have shown that political opportunities can return.
“I use this opportunity to appeal to the good people of Ogun-East Senatorial District to elect Prince Dapo Abiodun as our next Senator in the coming election.
“Our Governor has demonstrated passion for greatness and development. What we are witnessing in Ogun-East today is a clear indication that, if elected as Senator, he will do even more for the senatorial district,” - Akintunde said.
- Oluseun JOSHUA, Abeokuta.
