2027: Kwara APC rallies support for Tinubu’s re-election

The All Progressives Congress in Kwara State on Sunday kicked off mobilisation for the 2027 general elections with a statewide rally in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election and a celebration of the party’s candidates who emerged from its recently concluded primaries.

The procession, organised by Kwara Progressives under the banner, “Kwara Ndupe (Kwara is Grateful),” drew party leaders, candidates and supporters through major streets of Ilorin, the state capital.

Organisers described the rally as both a celebration of the successful primaries and an early mobilisation for the 2027 general elections.

Addressing journalists during the rally, the State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Abdulateef Alakawa, said the event was organised to thank God for the peaceful conduct of the primaries, which produced candidates for elective offices across the state through the direct primary election process.

He said the exercise reflected the wishes of party members and reaffirmed the loyalty of the Kwara APC to Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

“Power belongs to the people, and the people have spoken through the direct primary elections. We are grateful to God that the primaries were peaceful and successful, with our candidates emerging across the various positions,” Alakawa said.

The APC chieftain dismissed fears that the outcome of the primaries could create divisions within the party, saying the leadership had already activated reconciliation mechanisms to bring all stakeholders together ahead of the 2027 polls.

In every democratic process, there will be winners and others who may not emerge. As far as the APC is concerned, we have no losers.

“The party has already constituted a reconciliation committee, and we are confident all issues will be resolved,” he added.

The APC candidate for Kwara North Senatorial District, Ahmad Muhammad, described the decision to zone the party’s governorship ticket to Kwara North as a demonstration of fairness and inclusiveness, thanking Tinubu, AbdulRazaq and party members for the confidence reposed in him.

“We appreciate the people of Kwara for giving Kwara North the opportunity to produce the next governor. Today’s rally demonstrates the confidence and support the people have for the leadership of Governor AbdulRazaq and the APC,” he said.

Muhammad expressed confidence that the APC would retain power in the state in the next general elections, insisting that the party continued to enjoy widespread support across Kwara.

Similarly, the APC candidate for Kwara South Senatorial District, Olalekan Adewoye, thanked Tinubu, AbdulRazaq and other party leaders for the opportunity to represent the party, describing the APC as a united family whose members remained committed to its collective success.

“I am grateful to God and to the leadership of our party for the confidence reposed in me. Without their support, this would not have been possible,” Adewoye said

Also speaking, the Majority Leader of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Oba Magaji Abdulkadri, said the turnout at the rally reflected the unity and growing strength of the APC in the state.

“We are very happy. As you can see, everyone is in a joyous mood,” Abdulkadri said.

He dismissed concerns about the opposition’s chances in the state, expressing confidence that the APC would maintain its dominance in the 2027 elections.

“The future in Kwara State is APC from top to bottom, by the grace of Allah. The future is very bright. We are not afraid. As our leaders have said, there is practically no opposition in Kwara. We will continue to remain united and work together for the progress of the party and the state,” he said.
