In a renewed show of growing political momentum and grassroots engagement, the Yayi Progressives Movement in Ogun State has welcomed a prominent association of artisans into its fold, further strengthening its expanding support base ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The gathering, held on Thursday in Abeokuta, attracted key leaders and stakeholders of the artisans’ association across the state. The delegation was led by the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Association, Hon. Kehinde Odeneye, alongside the State President of Artisans and other senior executives.

Also present at the event were Comrade Ayodele Anthony and representatives of the league of Presidents, comprising leaders of affiliated artisan associations statewide. The meeting equally had in attendance the four divisional coordinators, members of the State Executive Council, and local government chairmen of the Artisans Association across Ogun State.

Receiving the delegation, the State Coordinator of the Yayi Progressives Movement, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, described the development as a clear indication of the movement’s growing acceptance among grassroots groups and professional bodies.

He noted that the Movement remains open to all individuals and organizations willing to contribute to progressive political development in the state.

Speaking at the gathering, Kaka stated that both groups agreed to work collaboratively toward mobilizing support for Senator Adeola’s gubernatorial ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.

"At today’s meeting, where we formally received the executives of the Artisans Association into the Yayi Progressives Movement, we resolved to work together in mobilising widespread grassroots support for Distinguished Senator Adeola as part of our collective assignment toward the 2027 governorship election."

In his reaction, the Convener of the Yayi Progressives Movement, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, described the collaboration as a significant step in repositioning and strengthening the movement as a leading grassroots mobilisation group in Ogun State.

“I warmly welcome all artisans and their executives into our movement. The Yayi Progressives Movement has grown into a large platform with over 30,000 members, and with the inclusion of artisans and other groups joining soon, we are optimistic of reaching nearly 100,000 supporters before the general elections,” - Akintunde said.

Adding that the movement’s primary objective remains mobilising support for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across all elective positions, including the Presidential, Governorship, National Assembly, and State House of Assembly seats.

Akintunde further appreciated members and coordinators working behind the scenes to strengthen the movement, noting that consistent grassroots engagement continues to yield positive outcomes.

"As political activities gradually build toward the 2027 elections, the Yayi Progressives Movement remains committed to expanding inclusive participation, empowering grassroots stakeholders, and fostering unity among professional and community groups across Ogun State.

"We call on residents, artisans, youths, and professionals to join its growing platform, it as a people-driven initiative focused on progressive leadership, collective development, and sustainable political advancement for the future of our dear state". - Akintunde added.
