131,165 new voters registered in Edo

A total of 131,165 new voters have been registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission following the conclusion of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise in Edo State.

The commission said 52,907 voters transferred their voting areas to other polling units, while it also recorded 19,565 requests for change of name, correction of the spelling of names, dates of birth, gender, addresses or profession.

INEC, in a report by its spokesperson in the state, Toyon Buoro, said the CVR exercise was conducted between August 2025 and July 2026.

According to the report, Owan West Local Government had the least registration, with a total of 3,393 new voters, while Ovia North East recorded 11,613 new voters and Oredo had 9,544 new voters

The report also stated that the INEC State Office recorded the highest number of registrations, with 11,747.

The report added, “A total number of 131,165 new voters were registered in Edo State in the just concluded Continuous Voter Registration exercise, which took place between August 2025 and July 2026.

“The Owan West Local Government had the least registration, with a total of 3,393 new voters, while Ovia North East recorded 11,613 new voters and Oredo had 9,544 new voters.”
