AKARIGBO CHARGES MADEIN TO KEEP SERVING NIGERIA, REMO, IPERU AS EGBE DEGBUYI REMO INSTALLS FIRST FEMALE AGF AS MATRON
Monarch applauds MADEIN's commitment to national and community development as Egbe Degbuyi Remo marks 8th anniversary
The Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Adewale AJAYI (Torungbuwa II), has charged renowned community leader and philanthropist, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Sakirat MADEIN, to remain steadfast in her service to humanity, declaring that “her best is yet to come” as Nigeria, Remoland and her hometown of Iperu continue to need her contributions. The royal father gave the charge on Saturday, 30th May, 2026, at the Royal Haven Event Centre, Sagamu, during the 8th Anniversary Celebration of Egbe Degbuyi Remo, where Dr. MADEIN was formally installed as the group's Matron.
The colourful anniversary celebration featured the induction of new members, investiture of patrons and matrons, presentation of awards to deserving members, and a fundraising drive towards the completion of the group's Permanent Secretariat and Club House.
Speaking at the event, the Akarigbo eulogised Dr. MADEIN, the first female and the immediate past Accountant General of the Federation, for her steadfast commitment to the development of Nigeria, Remoland and Iperu, describing her as one of the most distinguished daughters of Remo land. He commended her consistent readiness to support communal development initiatives whenever called upon to do so.
The monarch described her as a pride of Remoland and challenged the notion held by some that the region lacks capable and accomplished women. According to him, there is currently a list being compiled for an important upcoming assignment in Remoland which, regrettably, does not contain the name of any woman. He therefore publicly declared Mrs. MADEIN as the first female whose name would be included on the list, citing her exemplary record of service, leadership and impact.
Oba Adewale AJAYI rejoiced with MADEIN on her 61st birthday, book presentation, and foundation launch held last March. He stated that he would have loved to attend the event but was unable to do so due to an engagement abroad. He prayed for her to enjoy many more years in good health, happiness, and fulfillment.
The royal father also congratulated the Giwa of Egbe Degbuyi Remo, Gbuyi Saheed OLOYEDE, and the entire membership for the successful organisation of the anniversary celebration. He praised the association's numerous empowerment programmes and community intervention initiatives, noting that their contributions have earned them a place of honour at the palace.
While calling for deeper collaboration between the palace and the group, particularly in the area of security, the monarch stressed that no meaningful development can thrive in an atmosphere of insecurity.
“No amount of empowerment or giving back to society can achieve the desired impact if the people do not have peace of mind. Security remains a key prerequisite for a peaceful and progressive society,” he stated.
The Akarigbo further advocated the establishment of a dedicated social fund to support security-related interventions, noting that the financial demands of maintaining security continue to increase.
He also congratulated the newly invested patrons and matrons, all of whom he described as longstanding friends of the palace and familiar faces committed to the development of Remoland.
Responding, an elated Dr.. MADEIN, who is the Founder and Chairperson of the Olowo Oloye Foundation, expressed profound appreciation to Egbe Degbuyi Remo for finding her worthy of the prestigious appointment as Matron. She pledged to work closely with the association in advancing its programmes and developmental objectives.
She stated that her confidence in the organisation was strengthened by the integrity and character of one of its members she already knows personally, adding that she believes the association is made up of men committed to honour, service and community development.
Dr. MADEIN also appreciated her husband, Engr. Sir Adeleke MADEIN; her close friend, Dr. Joke SOFOWORA; and members of the Blessed Bomode Oku Society, who accompanied her to the event and shared in the honour bestowed upon her.
Reaffirming her commitment to the ideals of Egbe Degbuyi Remo, she pledged her continued support for initiatives that promote human development, social advancement and community upliftment across Remoland and beyond.
The event drew distinguished sons and daughters of Remoland, traditional rulers, professionals, community stakeholders and development partners, all united in celebrating eight years of impactful service by Egbe Degbuyi Remo and its contributions to the growth and progress of society.
Also inaugurated alongside Dr. MADEIN as Matron, is Dr. (Mrs.) Oluremi Falilat RUNSEWE, while Hon. Oladipupo ADEBUTU, Otunba Tunji LAWAL-SOLARIN, Mr. Sammy OGUNJIMI, and Engr. Adewale FAYEMI were installed as Patrons.
Dr. MADEIN was appointed in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the development of Remoland, Ogun State, and Nigeria at large.
According to the leadership of the group in its letter dated 2nd March, 2026, and jointly signed by the Giwa of Egbe Degbuyi Remo, Gbuyi Saheed Olawale OLOYEDE, and the Otun Giwa of Egbe Degbuyi Remo and Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Gbuyi Dr. Olajuwon Ariyo ABIJO, the appointment is in celebration of Dr. MADEIN's visionary leadership, selfless service, and steadfast commitment to societal advancement. The group noted that her contributions have left an enduring impact on the preservation of traditional heritage and the promotion of national development.
The appointment is regarded as a significant milestone for Egbe Degbuyi Remo, as the group looks forward to benefiting from Dr. MADEIN's wealth of experience, wisdom, and guidance. The group expressed confidence that her role as Matron will further strengthen its advisory structure and enhance its efforts toward community development and the advancement of the noble aspirations of Remoland.
