Wike-backed Bauchi PDP guber candidate hails endorsement

The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bauchi State, Usman Sufi, has expressed confidence of emerging victorious in the 2027 governorship election following the endorsement of more than 30 political support groups operating under the umbrella of the party.

Sufi made expressed this confidence on Sunday while receiving the endorsement of the groups, who pledged their allegiance and support for his governorship ambition.

While speaking at the event, Sufi, described as the flag bearer of the Nyesom Wike-backed PDP, expressed gratitude to the support groups for the confidence and trust reposed in him.

“I sincerely appreciate the confidence and trust that the over 30 political support groups have reposed in me. Your endorsement is a clear demonstration of our shared commitment to building a better Bauchi State,” he said.

He reaffirmed his commitment to consulting widely and working with all stakeholders to deliver good governance.

“I remain committed to consulting widely, working collaboratively with all stakeholders, and pursuing a people-centred agenda anchored on transparency, accountability, youth and women empowerment, economic growth, quality education, improved healthcare, and infrastructural development,” Sufi stressed.

Meanwhile, the PDP governorship hopeful, called on party members and supporters to remain united and peaceful as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify.

“I urge all our party members and supporters to remain peaceful, united, and focused as preparations continue towards the 2027 general elections. The collective interest and progress of Bauchi State must remain paramount,” he d.

Sufi added, “Together, through unity, service, and visionary leadership, we can build a stronger, more prosperous, and inclusive Bauchi State for present and future generations,” he pleaded.

Speaking earlier on behalf of the coalition, the Chairman of the PDP Youths Vanguard for Usman Adamu Sufi, Abdulrasheed Haladu, announced the endorsement of Sufi as the preferred governorship candidate of the coalition for the 2027 election.

Haladu said the decision was reached during a meeting attended by leaders and representatives of the various support groups.

“We have jointly declared our support for Usman Sufi and endorsed him as our preferred gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 Bauchi State governorship election,” he said.

According to him, the coalition has resolved to mobilise grassroots support across the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State to ensure Sufi’s victory at the polls.

“Our members have reaffirmed their commitment to mobilising grassroots support across the 20 Local Government Areas of Bauchi State in support of Usman Sufi’s aspiration,” Haladu stated.

Describing the PDP candidate as a leader with the capacity to transform the state, Haladu said, “Usman Sufi is a visionary leader with the experience, integrity, competence, and grassroots connection required to provide purposeful leadership and accelerate the socio-economic development of Bauchi State.”

He called on members of the party to remain united ahead of the election.

“We call on all members and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party to remain united and work collectively towards the party’s success in the 2027 general elections,” he maintained.

Haladu added that the coalition was convinced Sufi possessed the qualities needed to lead the state.

“We are confident that Usman Sufi’s leadership qualities, commitment to inclusive governance, and passion for sustainable development make him well-positioned to deliver a more prosperous future for the people of Bauchi State,” he insisted
