Viral video just content, Olajumoke denies substance abuse claims

Nigerian model, Olajumoke Orisaguna, has dismissed speculation about her lifestyle following a viral TikTok video that sparked concern among fans.

Olajumoke, popularly known as Olajumoke Onibread, came under scrutiny after a clip showed her singing what appeared to be a freestyle. While some viewers found the video entertaining, others raised concerns about her appearance and demeanour, with some alleging she may have taken up smoking or alcohol consumption.

Reacting via Instagram on Monday, the mother of two described the video as purely for entertainment and expressed displeasure over what she called unfounded assumptions about her character.

“I’m not happy about the comments I saw on my video. Some people were saying that I now smoke and drink alcohol. Why would anyone think that about me? It was just content. I know some people understood that, but it was only content,” she said.

She firmly denied engaging in substance use, stressing that such habits do not align with her upbringing.

“I don’t smoke or drink, I wasn’t raised that way. Please, I’m begging you all, don’t give me a reputation that isn’t mine. Even when I go to parties and I’m offered a drink, I simply leave it on the table.

Olajumoke also clarified that the song featured in the video was not originally hers, urging the public to better understand creative expression on social media.

Please understand, it was all just content. Even the song I was singing is not mine.”

The model rose to prominence in 2016 after she inadvertently walked into a photoshoot featuring British rapper Tinie Tempah. The moment, captured by photographer TY Bello, propelled her from a bread seller on the streets of Lagos into national and international recognition.

Following her sudden rise, she featured in major campaigns, walked runways and became a symbol of unexpected opportunity. However, she later retreated from the spotlight, sparking curiosity about her whereabouts.

In 2024, she re-emerged as a radio presenter with her talk show Kilon Shele, where she began sharing her life experiences, including challenges with exploitative management and her struggles in an abusive marriage with her ex-husband.
