UNILAG to speaker Meranda: Lagos deserves leaders like you

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, has received a commitment of support from the University of Lagos (UNILAG). The Speaker received a courtesy call from a UNILAG delegation led by Professor Abraham Osinubi, dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, who characterised her rise as a victory for honesty and vision.
Professor Osinubi expressed confidence that under Meranda’s leadership, the Assembly would enact transformative policies to elevate Lagos State to greater heights.
He emphasized that Lagos needs leaders like Meranda, who possess the courage to envision a brighter future and the wisdom to bring that vision to life.
He said: “Lagos State stands at the crossroads of boundless opportunities and challenges and we are confident that under your dynamic stewardship, the Assembly will enact transformative policies that will elevate the state to even greater heights.
As a state renowned for its innovation, resilience and leadership, Lagos needs leaders like you who possess the courage to envision a brighter future and the wisdom to bring that vision to life.”
The Vice Chancellor of UNILAG, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, was also excited about Meranda’s achievement, being the first female Speaker of the State’s Assembly.
The university prayed for divine wisdom, strength, and clarity of purpose to guide Meranda’s decisions, and for her leadership to inspire future generations.
Meranda responded by promising to continue being a source of pride to UNILAG and to work towards meeting the yearnings of Lagosians through life-changing laws and motions.
I will definitely make you proud by the special grace of God. I will work to ensure that you see me as a source of pride to UNILAG,” she promised.
Lawmaker and UNILAG alumnus Hon. Lanre Afinni also thanked the university for its contributions, including producing portable ventilators during the COVID-19 pandemic
