Three suspected kidnappers killed in Delta

Three suspected kidnappers have been killed by the Delta State Police Command.
Saturday news gathered that policemen attached to the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team engaged the suspects in a gun duel at Ewhereni Junction along Ughelli-Patani Road on May 27, 2025.
It was further gathered that the suspects who were in a shuttle bus opened fire on the police on sighting them, leading to an intense exchange of gun shots.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Bright Edafe, said in a statement on Friday that three of the suspects sustained injuries in the shootout while others escaped.
The injured suspects were taken to the hospital where they died while receiving treatment”, he said.
Edafe disclosed that one AK-47 rifle loaded with 18 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the hoodlums.
The PPRO said another set of suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, and cultists were arrested in another operations in the state.
According to her, on May 24, 2025, the police arrested a suspect, Ifeanyi Okolie aka “Black Jesus’ who allegedly specialised in robbing unsuspecting victims of their motorcycles and other valuables within Asaba/Okpanam/Ibusa/Ogwashi-Uku.
Edafe said the 38-year-old suspect allegedly confessed to be a native of Nsukwa community in Aniocha South LGA of Delta State but resident at Okpanam area of Asaba.
Upon interrogation, the PPRO said Okolie allegedly led operatives to a bush opposite Okpanam City Gate, where three locally made guns and four live cartridges were recovered, alongside a suspected stolen Q-Link motorcycle.
