Three seminarians abducted, NSCDC officer killed in Edo attack

Gunmen on Thursday night attacked the Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary School at Ivianokpodi, Agenebode, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, killing an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps attached to the school.

It was gathered that three seminarians were abducted, while a local vigilante sustained injuries during the attack.

The Directorate of Social Communications, Catholic Diocese of Auchi, Rev. Fr. Peter Egielewa, confirmed the incident on Friday.

He said the attackers struck the school at about 9:00 pm.

Egielewa noted that the Thursday attack marked the second time in 10 months that the school had been attacked.

He recalled that a priest was kidnapped during the previous incident.

Egielewa condemned the repeated attacks on the Catholic school and its personnel, calling on the government to protect lives within the institutions.

He also appealed to security agencies at all levels to take responsibility so that people can live in peace and safety.
