Tambuwal, Saraki celebrate Peter Obi at 65
Former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Tambuwal, and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, have congratulated the African Democratic Congress’ 2027 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on his 65th birthday, praising his contributions to national development and praying for his continued good health and service to Nigeria.
The two politicians conveyed their goodwill messages in separate posts shared on their verified X accounts on Sunday to mark Obi’s birthday.
Tambuwal described Obi’s attainment of 65 years as a reflection of a lifetime of service, discipline and dedication to the country.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives commended Obi’s record in public service, saying he had consistently demonstrated prudent leadership and a passion for national development.
On the joyous occasion of your 65th birthday, I extend my warmest congratulations and heartfelt best wishes to Your Excellency, Mr. @PeterObi. Reaching this remarkable milestone is a testament to a life of service, discipline, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the progress of our dear nation.
“Over the years, you have distinguished yourself through your dedication to good governance, prudent leadership, and your enduring passion for building a more prosperous and equitable Nigeria,” he wrote.
According to Tambuwal, Obi’s contributions to national conversations have strengthened Nigeria’s democratic process and encouraged greater civic participation, particularly among young people.
He also prayed for continued good health, wisdom and strength for the former Anambra State governor.
Your contributions to our national discourse have enriched our democracy and inspired millions of Nigerians, particularly young people, to remain actively engaged in the pursuit of a better future for our country.
“As you celebrate this special day, I pray that Almighty God grants you continued good health, wisdom, strength, and many more years of impactful service to our nation and humanity. Happy 65th Birthday, Your Excellency”, he added.
Saraki, in his own birthday message, described Obi as a friend and brother, joining other Nigerians in celebrating the former governor.
“My family and I join millions of Nigerians in celebrating my good friend and brother, H.E. @PeterObi, as he marks his 65th birthday today,” the former Senate President wrote.
He prayed for God’s continued blessings upon Obi, saying, “I pray that Almighty God grants him good health, long life and continued strength in service to our country.”
Obi, who served as Governor of Anambra State from 2006 to 2014, was the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election.
Since then, he has remained one of Nigeria’s leading opposition figures, with his supporters, popularly known as the Obidient Movement, continuing to advocate governance reforms, accountability and greater youth participation in the country’s democratic process.
