Tai Solarin varsity gets new VC

The governing council of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education has announced the appointment of Prof. Samuel Ekundayo Oladipo as the new Vice Chancellor of the institution.

According to a statement on Wednesday by the Registrar of the university, Mr Dapo Oke, Oladipo assumes office as the 6th substantive Vice Chancellor of the institution.

The Professor of Social Psychology and foundation faculty member of TASUED brings decades of academic experience, administrative expertise, and a commitment to value-driven education to the university’s top office.

Announcing the appointment, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof Rahamon Bello, at the end of the council meeting on Tuesday, reportedly “praised Prof Oladipo’s impressive track record, noting his emergence as a product of merit, doggedness, and an unwavering dedication to the University’s founding ethos.”

Born on June 29, 1969, into the family of the late Mr and Mrs Amos Oladipo of Agbaakin Compound, Akinmoorin, Oyo State, Oladipo joined Tai Solarin College of Education in 1999 and became a foundation faculty member when it was upgraded to TASUED in 2005. He attained the rank of professor in October 2014.

Prior to his appointment, he served the university in several capacities, including Chairman, University Result Vetting Board; pioneer Director, Directorate of Research and External Relations; pioneer Dean, College of Specialised and Professional Education; Deputy Director, Directorate of Academic Planning, Quality Assurance and Research; and Sub-Dean, College of Applied Education and Vocational Technology.

He also held a sabbatical appointment at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at North-West University, Mafikeng, South Africa, between 2013 and 2015. He is a recipient of the National Research Fund award.

Oladipo has authored over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles, 10 edited academic books, several book chapters, and more than 15 Christian books.

He recently completed a TETFund-sponsored research on the Development and Validation of Psycho-Educational Counselling Intervention Programme for Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse in Nigeria.

His research interests include spirituality and health, help-seeking behaviour, gender-based violence, child abuse, and psychological scale development.

He is a member of several professional bodies, including the American Psychological Association, Psychological Association of Nigeria, Nigeria Social Psychology Association, Counselling Psychology Association of Nigeria, and the African Scientist Organisation.

Prof Oladipo is also a pastor, teacher, and administrator known for discipline, accuracy, and punctuality.

He enjoys writing, swimming, singing, and building relationships.

He is married to Mrs Christianah Oladipo, and the union is blessed with children.

His appointment takes effect from May 5, 2026.
