Soldiers arrest two cattle rustlers in Plateau, recover weapons

Troops of the 3 Division/Joint Task Force in Plateau state, Operation Enduring Peace, have arrested two notorious cattle rustlers and recovered arms and ammunition.

Spokesman for the military Taskforce, Major Samson Zhakom, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Thursday, said the operation was conducted on September 11, 2025, in Kogul Village, Mangu Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, the troops raided the hideout of the suspected cattle rustlers following an intelligence-based operation and made the breakthrough.

“During the operation, troops arrested two notorious cattle rustlers and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one fabricated revolver rifle, ten rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition, one mobile phone, and cash,” Zhakom stated.

He added that the arrested suspects and recovered items are currently in the custody of the troops for investigation.

Zhakom noted that troops are conducting follow-up operations to intercept and arrest other members of the criminal syndicate.

“This arrest is pivotal to the ongoing efforts to tackle the triggers of crisis, which troops of 3 Division/JTF OPEP are actively involved in and have sworn to do in the Joint Operations Area,” he added.
