Sokoto deputy gov receives 11 freed kidnap victims

Eleven persons abducted from Kaibaba village in Turba ward of Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State have been rescued from a forest in Zurmi Local Government of Zamfara State.

The victims, comprising seven women, three babies, and a male teenager, were freed by security operatives in a breakthrough in the fight against banditry and handed over to the Sokoto State Government on Tuesday.

Speaking during the reception of the victims at the Government House in Sokoto on Wednesday, the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idris Gobir, commended the security personnel for their gallantry and swift response.

He reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Governor Ahmed Aliyu-led administration to tackling insecurity across the state, noting that the government considers security its topmost priority.

The administration has never relented in supporting all security initiatives aimed at safeguarding the lives and property of our people,” Gobir said.

As part of the state government’s support, the deputy governor announced a donation of ₦100,000, a bag of millet, and a bag of maize to each of the eleven rescued victims.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Isa Local Government, Alhaji Sherifu Kamarawa, expressed appreciation to the state government for the kind gesture and its prompt intervention, describing it as a sign of genuine concern for the security and well-being of the people

The successful rescue is the latest in a series of efforts by the Sokoto State Government and security agencies to rid the state and neighbouring areas of criminal elements
