Spanish midfield legend Sergio Busquets has confirmed he will retire from professional football at the end of the MLS season.

Football journalist Fabrizio Romano broke the news in a social media post on Friday, reporting that the Inter Miami star will hang up his boots this October.

He said, “Sergio Busquets RETIRES from professional football at the end of the MLS season!

“Decision made by Spanish midfielder… who’s leaving Inter Miami and professional football in October. Legend and icon of the game.”

Busquets, 36, is known for his intelligence, composure, and ability to control matches from midfield.

He confirmed the reports in an Instagram post, sharing a tribute video with the caption: “A heartfelt thank you to everyone, and to football, for everything. You will always be a part of this beautiful story.”

During his career, Busquets enjoyed massive success with Barcelona, winning multiple La Liga and UEFA Champions League titles

He was also a key figure in Spain’s golden era, helping the national team lift the 2010 World Cup and the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.
