Rivers pastor arrested for alleged homosexuality, charged to court

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a cleric, identified as Elijah, over alleged homosexuality.

Elijah, the General Overseer of a new-generation church in Port Harcourt, was reportedly apprehended after a leaked video surfaced showing him in a compromising situation.

Sources said that the pastor’s troubles began when a male acquaintance, whom he was allegedly making advances towards, secretly recorded their interaction and later released the footage.

A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “We don’t know how the Octopus Strike Force of the Rivers State Police Command got hold of the video, but they began tracking the pastor. Eventually, acting on credible intelligence, officers trailed him to one of his regular hangouts and arrested him.”

It was gathered that during interrogation, the cleric allegedly made confessional statements about his involvement in similar activities with both adults and minors within and outside Port Harcourt.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect had been arraigned in court.

“Yes, I can confirm the pastor’s arrest. He is in custody, and investigations are ongoing. In fact, he has already been charged to court,” Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police, said.
