Power supply: Oluwo lauds Tinubu

The Paramount Ruler of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has commended President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Power, Olasunkanmi Tegbe, over what he described as improved and uninterrupted electricity supply in the country.

The monarch, who recently returned from a month-long vacation abroad, stated that he had experienced significant improvement in electricity supply since his return to Nigeria two days earlier.

According to him, the development will encourage investment, boost businesses, and strengthen the country’s economy.

Oba Akanbi also attributed the improvement to efforts to address corruption in the power sector, calling for sustained measures to ensure stable electricity supply.

The monarch’s commendation was contained in a statement on Saturday by his Press Secretary, Alli Ibraheem, and obtained by Sunday PUNCH.

The stable power supply currently enjoyed by Nigerians is commendable. I specially commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for restoring sanctity to Nigeria’s power sector.

“I extend the commendation to the Honourable Minister of Power, Olasunkanmi Tegbe. I call for the sustenance of the improved tempo of electricity supply and express strong hope that the breakthrough will attract investors who will boost Nigeria’s economic strength.”

The monarch noted that his experience during his recent trip abroad had made him appreciate the improvement in electricity supply at home.

“I am glad that Nigeria is replicating the stable electricity supply we used to enjoy in advanced countries of the world. I just returned from a month-long vacation and noticed a commendable improvement in Nigeria’s power sector.

“Since my return two days ago, I have been enjoying at least 20 hours of power supply per day. I have not bought a single litre of diesel. I am seeing the Nigeria of my dream. This is a commendable breakthrough,” he said.

Oba Akanbi stated that reliable electricity would encourage local and foreign investors to establish businesses in the country while helping existing enterprises reduce operating costs.

He noted that small-scale business owners, including fish sellers, welders, cold-drink sellers, and barbers, would particularly benefit from the improved electricity supply.

“The downtrodden Nigerians whose businesses depend heavily on electricity will rebound economically. There are many of them in Iwo here. Petty traders such as fish sellers, welders, cold-drink sellers, and barbers are smiling.

“It is a great relief from economic hardship associated with inadequate power supply. Their businesses are booming, blossoming, and prospering,” he said.

Oba Akanbi stated that sustained electricity supply could improve the livelihoods of Nigerians and place more people on the path to economic prosperity.

However, the traditional ruler urged Nigerians to adopt responsible electricity consumption practices, noting that electricity is a paid commodity that should not be wasted.
